Chrysler has announced it will offer zero percent financing on its 2009 Dodge

Chrysler has announced it will offer zero percent financing on its upcoming 2009 Dodge Ram trucks in an effort to boost the brand's declining truck sales, Automotive News reports. The corporate incentive was revealed to dealers during a companywide conference call earlier this week.

Around the nation, manufacturers are struggling enormously to push their aging gas-guzzling trucks off lots. As a result, the Auburn Hills automaker plans to shut down the second shift at its Dodge Ram producing St. Louis plant in order to curb the influx of the less fuel economic vehicles. Additionally, it will lay off over 900 workers at the facility beginning September 1 as well.

Chrysler is currently on a companywide shutdown this week amidst "the lowest sales in 16 years" according to CEO Bob Nardelli. Dodge's 2009 Ram is expected to debut at the end of the summer and promises to be more fuel efficient and less polluting.
