Has anyone else noticed when going up hill right around 28mph the car shudders at all right around 1900 rpm's or it might be 2900. Its just a constant shudder only at those speeds and rpms. Just curious....
I have been having the same problem and thanks to this forum, I called my dealership and found that there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for this issue. I describe mine as feeling like I am driving over rumble strips. The dealer confirmed that the TSB will fix the problem - it may not just be a reflash, you likely will have to have your torque converter replaced. Mine is on back order as of yesterday. Sorry, I don't know the TSB number but I can tell you that it was just revised again on 2/10/07. Definitely call your dealership. I also had a vibration at 40-45 and found out that my Nitro had a manufacturing defect in the front differential - it was something the Dana acknowledged that they had a problem on the assembly line. If you want more information on that, I can get it - I purchased my Nitro in December so it may affect those built around the same time as mine (I can get that info too, if interested). Good Luck!!
I experience the same shuddering at the 40 mph range but my nitro is 2 wheel drive. i was told that the torque converter is just engaging and diengaging at that speed for fuel economy purposes, sounds like a lot of smoke. becauese of this forum i will definatly take my car in.
Yep take it in , your dealer is definitely handing you something other than the straight skinny on this. There are 2 TSB put out by DCX on this problem.
Yes I have been havin the same problem with my slt nitro. I took it in and they rebalenced the front tires and sent me off, the shudder is still there. Im gonna take it back and tell them about the TSB. Thx guys.
Just got mine back from the dealership, I had the same problem. They performed the flash update, that didn't work, so they replaced the torque converter and that seems to have sorted out the problem.
I just purchased a nitro and have around 1400km's on it with only the transmission bucking problem. It's going in to be repaired. If you could post any additional info on the front diff problem in the forum it would be appretiated.Other than the bucking we haven't had any problems and it goes great!
The front differential problem that I had was a manufacturing problem from Dana. Mine was manufactured prior to December 2006 and apparently Dana knows of the defect. When mine was replaced and sent back to Dana, they confirmed that mine had the manufacturing problem. The symptons that I experienced was a slight vibration at 40-45 mph and 1500 rpms. Chrysler flew a technician to my dealer because they thought it was the drive shafts so they replaced them and it did not resolve it, then replaced the rear ring & pinion, it wasn't that, then the technician finally heard of the Dana issue with the front differential - my dealer removed the front drive shaft and test drove it to find out that it no longer vibrates - that's when they talked to Dana and found out about the issue and went on to replace it. I do not know exactly what the issue was but will find out for you if you are interested.
I have also had the TSB done for the shuddering, mine was already flashed to the latest so my torque converter has been replaced. It has been about 800 miles now and all is finally fine with my Nitro.
