Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

LHD usually means Left Hand Drive

Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

I thought the same thing about the (LHD) meaning left hand drive, but the Nitro is not offered with right hand drive, at least not yet and not in this country.

Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

Mine has died 6 times in the three weeks I've had it. What did they tell you the problem was? My people are telling me it is a value problem that will probably be recalled sometime. My instances of failure are very similar to yours, turning and reversing.

Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

my nitro has a mfr. date of 10/06. it has died on me 3 times it happens while in motion and stationary. when it is in motion it will start back up on its own. everything powers off then comes back on like as if i just started it. happened once while stopped in traffic and did not restart by itself. I had to put it in park and restart it. MERCURYMAN the animated gif you have under your posts is so annoying and distracting that I am unable to read your posts. starting to think I may have ADD. but regardless it is pretty annoying. no offense. just my opinion. take care peeps...

I just found this forum. My Nitro is a company car so I don't really have as much invested in it....but this stalling issue is SERIOUS.

I have driven my SLT 4x4 for about 3 weeks now...and up until two days ago no problems. We had unexpected snow in my area and I was driving home from work in 4 wheel drive, probably doing about 25 mph and WHAM, for less than a second EVERYTHING went out. I wasn't turning like many of you were when yours died. It did not completely die....it did what NITRO818 describes. Powered off momentarily (less than a second) then back on and so far for the last two days it's been fine.

I saw there was a recall but that was for a transmission problem. Am I missing it or is there a recall for this power failure? If this happens again and they don't have a fix I am going to refuse to drive this death trap.

As I say, if I missed something please point me to the right thread. Thanks!

Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration is aware of the engine shut off/ electrically issue. They are not conducting a formal investigation at this time, but the more owners that complain will help turn it into one.

You can register a complaint at:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

Please consider taking a few moments to fill out the online complaint form. You can also research recall notices, review other complaints, etc.

Re: How many times has your Nitro died ?

I have a loaded red R/T and had to take delivery w/out MyGig (but it was on the order)...BUT got it as a Due Bill item. (they will swap out what I have installed now for the MyGig at no added cost...it was a nice deal). Anyone know when we can order them from the parts department.

BTW: In the shop for the third time now....while driveing the ABS/EBS lights came on and then the electronic throatle control lists and then the engine lights. They replace the CAM 3 times and now, new software and flew in a person from the corporate office. They are now tracing the entire wire set for any shorts....a pain but the dealer has been wonderful.

Engine quit running at 75MPH!

On November 1, 2007 I was driving my 2007 Nitro RT on the freeway when the engine quit running for about 5 seconds, all of the dash warning lights came on, and I was in the hammer lane. I was looking for a safe place to land when the engine started again.

I found out about a recall in reference to that problem, Safety Recall G25 Reprogram TIPM – Engine Stalling. I was really disgusted with the dealer because that recall was issued July 2007 and I bought my Nitro on October 1st. Coulda got killed !!
The dealer allegedly made the recall repairs yesterday but I don't trust them...

To appease me they washed the Nitro and filled the tank. Big hearted, weren't they?
