R/T......engine Rattle/Knock

I have had my Nitro RT 3 weeks..........and since I picked it up I have noticed a slight rattle at slow speed acceleration......It seems to be getting more noticable as time goes by......I took it in for early service yesterday (1320 miles) Complained about the (Knock/Rattle) They said they could'nt duplicate it.......Hummmmm heard this crap before........So asked the service mgr. to take a ride with me.......Before we got out of the dealerships lot ......he agreed with me ....He said he could hear something.....More driving produced more noise.......It sounds like an old V6 thats very well worn.....He seem to think it sounded like loose wrist pins........So it was off to call Dodge and pow wow with the techs........said he'd call me........I hope he does.........Am very unhappy with this situation to say the least.....I love the r/t ...looks ...ride....handling.......but the 4 L engine leaves a lot to be desired.......noise...and gas milage not up to snuff....... Has any one else had this problem..........Thanks Wolfie

Re: R/T......engine Rattle/Knock

Additional info........just received a call from the dealer service mgr. .... Chrysler says quote " They have heard of this and know of this problem....."BUT" they don't know what it is...or what to do about it.....and they have no fix for it. So I will have to live with it at the present"........ BTW the more I drive it the worse it gets ....... So if you have been think about a new Nitro.......You might want to think twice before buying a Nitro R/T....... Until they get a handle on this.........As they say "Buyer Beware"

Isn't that engine available in the Chrysler Pacifica also? I suspect that there are more of those on the road already than the Nitro R/T's. That's the problem with being the first of the first. Maufactureres think they can test everything but the real world is different. Sorry your having these problems but I'm sure they will take care of you when they get to the bottom of it.

Thumbs down Re: R/T......engine Rattle/Knock

At this point I'm just turning the radio up louder and pretenging i'm driving a disiel.........What really ticks me off is that I traded a perfect 2005 Dodge Magnum hemi for this "Thing" The Magnum was quiet, strong , rode much better, and the gas milage was much better............To soon old, to late smart........Wolfie

Re: R/T......engine Rattle/Knock

Your the first one I've heard of having any problems with the R/T. Sorry to hear it. You might want to post up on the other ******, there seems to be a few dealer guys there that might be able to help with inside info or TSBs. Hope it works out for ya.
