As MyBluNITRO said the font and menu screens do look sharper and diff. But I find some of the Nav. menu option are a little harder to navigate and set up.

Does anyone know if when you download music if you can give the file a name? I haven't tried to download music to the new one yet but the old one when I loaded music was stored with no artist info? So when you have a few discs loaded you don't know which is which.

CBH, not sure how you were loading your music. The stuff I ripped directly from CD has artist and song names attached. I have also loaded with a USB flash drive after converting the CD to MP3s on my computer. All of those files transferred with the artist and song titles.

If you were to make your own random music CD and/or a random group of music on a USB flash drive without the Artist and song title info., I have my doubts on whether MyGIG could recognize the file and match it up the Gracenotes archive on MyGIG.

After the most recent update, from what I can see, the Artist and song info. is displayed better and more intuitive than ever before.

Yes, there are more layers to go through on the Nav screens, but in the process you have more options. I am going on a 3000 mile vacation Friday. I should have a very good grasp of the new Nav screens when I am done. I do know with the most recent update, you don't have to put the transmission in Park, you just have to be stopped, say at a red light. If, for instance, you are looking for a restaurant using the Points of Interest feature, you can use the touch screen as long as you are at a red light. The second you start moving, you are locked out. Stop again and you are back in business.

Anyone that discovers something really great with the new software should post it here for everyone. I for one like this gadget and want to get all the benefits that I can from it.

I should have posted my question after I tried my new stereo with a CD loaded to see if it works how I thought it should. Thanks for the info and the NAV system is great especial with the fact that you can touch the screen, the last NAV system in my Commander was a pain.

Thanks to this Forum and ResumeSpeed for the complete list of all Nitro Technical Service Bulletins, I had my Dealer order and install the software update 8-025-07 for my unit.

Works like a charm and the Acceptance Screen now removes its self at start up, instead of having to touch the screen, each time. Since my 07 was built late in July 07 I asked the Service Technician if all 08 MYGIG radios have this software. He said he did not know and I was the first to request this update.

Something else I found interesting was they gave me the DVD/CD update disk. When I told him that shouldn’t you keep this for others? he said no they would re-order it for that customer? Guess it is no big deal for them, and since it does have part # (68043349AB) maybe they charge it out under warranty.

If it was not for this Forum, how would any owner even know they could get rid of that screen? This disk works on 14 Chrysler models that have factory installed MYGIG Radios.

It took about 30 minutes to update and that is the only change I have seen so far. I would have thought maybe a GPS or “Bluetooth” update could have been part of this update but I guess not. Also I have updated our cell phones to Verizon’s Samsung Juke (U470) and they both were compatible and paired up correctly.

I know not everyone activates or keeps their SIRIUS radio active but why couldn’t they update MYGIG using satellite? My DVRs do this, not the phone line as in the past.

Chrysler really should notify all owners that this Update is available, free-of-charge, but that would cost money! They sent me by mail, a new engine tune label (Recall G-45) and told me to install it. I took it to the Dealer and the Service Technician got paid 0.2 hours to install it! They did not offer to pay me.
Well maybe someone at Chrysler read this Forum and my post!

Had a Chrysler Technician over at my house yesterday and he told me his Dealership just got a directive from Chrysler to stock this latest software update CD and install it in as many models as possible even without a request from the customer. Way-to-go Chrysler!

Does Chrysler send out the updates or do they have to be downloaded off the internet?

I think I have 9.713, but there is now a 9.715.

No you must return to the Dealership to have them install it under warranty (CD). At some point I am sure customers will be directed to perform their own, but presently it is free. My latest revision was to the 9.561 and I have not seen any TSB to upgrade it, but I am aware there are newer versions but may not be available from the Dealer, yet. I am pleased with what I have now with no issues. If you do have any issues with any version you should take it in for service and have it addressed under warranty. Good Luck and enjoy!

PS I have Lowrance I-Way 500C GPS also for our other SUV and have up-graded it twice using the Internet from their website and there is no charge. Future (out-of-warranty) may be done this way too, or maybe they will want to charge you for a CD?

Door Locks

My door locks are very loud. But so are the ones in my wife's Chrysler Concorde.

Received a new CD Upgrade/Recall CD (9.713) in the mail today directly from Chrysler. It says to install at once or risk hard disc drive corruption that will require replacement of the radio! WOW Even comes with Recall Postcard to return when completed. Can be self installed but have mine done at the Dealership so my Tech can get for paid for it and ask him to order the even newer 9.717 if he thinks it is needed.

So this is a first that an upgrade CD is sent directly to the owner, by Chrysler since they consider it a Recall. Way to go Chrysler.
