My Gig Infotainment system stuck in Spanish?

Hi there,

I have been frustrated here for about a week..lol

I have just purchased a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with the MyGig© Infotainment system. I was impressed after looking at it, for a while, until one morning I turned off the system, and in the morning, it was all in spanish.

After trying to get it back to english through the system settings in which did not work, I now figure I am going to have to take a spanish lesson to get it back.. the Sales department at dodge also does not know how to get it back to english.

Is there a file I can download to get it back to Factory default? Then again I dont' know if this was manufactored in mexico perhaps it is the factory default..haha Just kidding

Any suggestions how to get it back to English ... so I can start enjoying the system..... in English?

The sales department also told me that the 2007 Jeep Wrangler also doesn't have the Uconnect module? When I contacted parts and service they could not find any module that comes with the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. You would figure the buttons are there for the MyGig, it should be available.

Sounds like you have a serious problemo there Amigo.I can't help you correct the problem but if it persists and you can't get it corrected just bring it to Florida and we'll take it over to Miami and sell it .Anything Hispanic sells quickly down there .Or better yet you may decide to go to Radio Shack and buy an electronic translator for about $36... Whatever you decide GOOD LUCK ..

Go directly to the service department and have them fix it. Sales doesn't even know how to use it no less fix it.

As far as the Uconnect. It is controlled via the systems computer and differing models have different computers some it works and some not. The radio is only a small portion of the Uconnect system. The computer has to remove the signal that is currently playing (stereo, mp3, cd ,dvd.....) then route control of the sound system to your bluetooth device and enable voice control via the Uconnect microphone. None of this is handled in the radio itself even after all of that the system would still not work unless it was "authorized" via the StarScan tool at a chrysler dealership's service department.

I felt the same as you when I found out my Nitro did not have the Uconnect bits installed. I saw the buttons on the radio and just assumed it was there. I got lucky however, the salesman made the same assumption and the dealer stuck him with cost of the upgrade. I was upset a bit to find they did not install the new mirror with the microphone built it but they added the "after sales" version with a stick on mic. But it was done and I wasn't about to make them do it again. After the install they did the StarScan update and wiped out my computer, which took them 4 hours to replace and reprogram. Now that that is done and the Uconnect works I am happy.

I did have to reprogram all of my presets (too many with Sirius) and reset all of my personal settings in the computer but nothing else was destroyed so I guess they did good.

Most of this work was done within one visit to the Dealer. I knew it wasn't going to be quick so I dropped it off one evening and picked it up the next.

I got a rather extensive look into the workings of the systems computer while I was at it and understand much better why some things in some vehicles just won't work in others although the two are in the same family.

I know this won't make it work on your vehicle yet, but I hope it helps understand why.

BTW the MyGig updates are rolled quite frequently so your not without hope. Keep watching the news and the newsboards for updates
