Need some INFO Please!

Does the My Gig Nav system have all the maps and streets for North America, Canada and USA ?? and how much does the new upgrades ( Maps ) Cost.

Also is the 1800.00 NAv system worth it or should I just use a Garmin ?

Thanks

From a MyGIG owner and also owner of a Garmin Nuvi 750. If your vehicle did not come with MyGIG, a Garmin that you can move from vehicle to vehicle is much more practical.

As for the first part of your question. The maps are of North America in a US Model. I have been getting the upgrade downloads for MyGIG, but I can't tell you what all they include. I know my particular MyGIG works well and the last upgrade makes the maps look better. These upgrades are for the system, not the map database. These have been free. I have no idea what an upgrade map database will cost.

Hope this answers your question.

Welcome! Not sure if you are a Nitro owner asking about adding a NAV/u-connect system or buying or ordering a new Nitro with one. Which is it?

I really like the factory installed system that can and will be up-gradable or can be added by a Dealer. You can buy a new Factory unit less than $1,800 and install yourself.

I have a portable GPS I-Way 500-C that cost $700 several years ago. It is also a very good unit that I have used on several vacations in my Wife's car. These unit now cost much less, and use the Internet for up-dates.

Guess it really depends on you, but I like the built-in unit since I am not as concerned as to someone stealing it or having to hiding it when vehicle is un-attended. Does this help?

For me I would go with the factory install (may have Internet too or will be a add-on). You would have satellite radio, GPS, Mygig, U-connect, DVD(?) all in one package that really works great and all covered by Factory warranty.
