Dodge Nitro Vs. Toyota FJ Cruiser

Okay, I have a huge problem. My father is buying me my first car sometime from now until May 07. He really likes the FJ Cruiser, since he is paying it, but I don't find that it has very little features. So what do you guys think? I know this is a Nitro forum but since I have asked many and they don't know crap. So tell me, I love the Nitro R/T which he said he would buy me:

Vs.

Re: Dodge Nitro Vs. Toyota FJ Cruiser

Not only is the Nitro way cooler, tell good old Dad it is made in Ohio and has 73% US made content. Us old people still buy "Made in The USA" when we can.
Don't really know much about the Toyota FJ Cruiser but would think it's US content is not that high.

Good Luck!

I know that the FJ is more Off Road Capable than the Nitro, but if you don't plan on going too far off of the beaten path, then I would pick the Nitro. I agree "It is way cooler"

It's almost impossible to order a Toyota with the exact features you may want. Generally, you have to take what a dealer has in stock. Go to Car & Driver and Edmunds and read the reviews of the FJ Cruiser before you think any more about that vehicle. Fuel economy is actually better in a Nitro. You and your dad should go drive them both and you should explain specifically what you like about the Nitro. In the end, you may find that he agrees with you.

I just don't get it anymore !!! When , I took a marketing class in high school [ which was over 3 decades ago ..oh my gosh !! ] it was taught /instilled in my consciousness that ' The Customer is KING ' !! More and more this business ethic is waning from our so-called American way of life !! You/we the customer are the ones paying for a product : this product whether it's a FJ Cruiser or the all-new Dodge Nitro. If I was in the market I'd tell the salesman how I wanted a vehicular equipped and if he could not/would not accommodate,,then he just lost a customer ! I'd go elsewhere !!

Boy Ragamuffin you hit it on the head! As the owner of an Automotive aftermarket company you need to cater to the customer. We get more sales from customer referrals and repeat customers than all our other forms of marketing combined. That's satistic I'm quite proud of. Oh and by the way Inovations does your dad need another son! I wanted an R/T but had to settle for an SLT.

hahaha, oh yeah. My birthday is in May and he said sometime btwn now and May I am getting a car so these two are my top choices, though the Nitro is ahead. Safety is also a major concern with my mother.

Re: Dodge Nitro Vs. Toyota FJ Cruiser

I test drove the FJC and the Nitro. In my opinion I like the Nitro better.

Sure, I could go and jump tree stumps with an FJ but will I? No.

For a daily driver, the Nitro is the way to go. I will be trading my Sport Trac ('01) for the Nitro early next year. I think I will go with the SLT and the 4.0 liter option as I don't really care about 20" wheels.

Now as for the color......I'm partial to Inferno Red Crystal Pearl or Bright Silver Metallic.

BTW, according to the salesman I spoke with, the base RT is $25,970 and you can work up from there adding options.

Re: Dodge Nitro Vs. Toyota FJ Cruiser

I just got my Light Khaki Metallic NITRO SXT a few weeks ago and I love it. The 4L must be insane because the 3.7L is very quick and the handling is great. Much better than you'd ever expect out of an SUV.

As far as the comparison with the Toyota I'd say this... Toyota puts out a good reliable product and it is set up to go hard off-road, but this Toyota gets hoooooooorible gas mileage for only a mid-size SUV... which surprised me.

With the NITRO you get 4 real doors and the fresh new style... the gas mileage is really good and I'm tellin' ya the German influence is really creeping into the line from Daimler Chrysler. (and I know... I've owned a Benz)
