Winshield Washer Recall

Well if you own a newer GM car you may have a recall on your vehicle. Not NITRO owners, since no one can find a dash indicate for low fluid level on it let along a heater for the fluid. Why do they need a heater? Is that not why you buy Windshield Washer Fluid so it will not freeze? So if you have a GM car you use water instead?

General Motors NewsGM recalls 857,735 vehicles Although General Motors has greatly improved the quality of its vehicles over the past few years, the U.S.’ largest automaker isn’t immune to manufacturing flaws. Unfortunately for GM, the latest hiccup on the production floor has resulted in the recall of 857,735 vehicles spanning the Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Hummer and Saturn brands.

The recall involves vehicles produced between 2006 and 2008 and equipped with a washer fluid heater system, with the vast majority of the vehicles in the recall being of the SUV variety.

The reason for the recall is a faulty circuit board used in the washer fluid heater system. The circuit board may overheat, causing other electrical malfunctions, create an odor or ever spark a fire.

Luckily for owners of any vehicles in the recall, the remedy is fairly simple and only involves the replacement of a wiring harness.

No accidents or injuries have been linked back to the recall.
