Chrysler fans ready for their turn

JULY 7, 2008

MOPAR mania will come to Carlisle PA next weekend as fans of Chrysler MOtor PARts drive to the fairgrounds for the All-Chrysler Nationals.

Attendees will see Challengers, Barracudas and Hemis, as well as some of the newest additions, such as the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, which is street legal but engineered to dominate on the race track, and the 2008 Dodge ZEO (Zero Emissions Operation), an all-electric concept car.

The show opens Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 a.m., and special guest Chris Jacobs, MOPAR enthusiast and co-host of TLC’s “Overhaulin’,” will be available all three days to sign autographs and speak with attendees.

Also present will be an original 1958 Fury that was used in the movie “Christine.” Fans will have a chance to see the car in action Saturday night with a special showing of the movie at Cumberland Drive-In Theatre at dusk.

Other special guests will include John “Dick” Samsen, a stylist who developed the clay model for the 1967 Barracuda and designed “rallye” wheels, and Tom Hoover, who became known as “Godfather of the Hemi” for his work on the 426 Hemi.
