Chrysler to speed updates

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Starting this year, Chrysler will introduce new technology on various 2009 models instead of waiting for the traditional mid-cycle refresh. If the company has something new it can put in a vehicle, it will.

The 2009 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 will introduce a new all-wheel drive system that gets the same gas mileage as a two-wheel drive system. The 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country, which were redesigned for the 2008 model year, will get a new backseat entertainment system with bigger screens that can swivel. They also will come with blind spot monitoring and a backup system, which allows drivers to see if any cars are approaching as they back up.

By year's end, Chrysler hopes to introduce an Internet connection through its Mopar division that will make any vehicle a mobile WiFi Hotspot.
