Jeep® Brand’s “Free To Be” Video

Jeep® Brand’s “Free To Be” Video Launches Across Television

The Jeep® brand’s “Free to Be” video shines the spotlight on the new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and the new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles

The campaign features Cat Steven’s song “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out”

The 60-second video broke across television on Monday, September 26

September 27, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The Jeep® brand launched a new advertising campaign to mark the introduction of its two newest models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee: the new 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and the new 2017 Grand Cherokee Summit. The “Free to Be” campaign features the song “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out” by Cat Stevens. The 60-second video debuted across television last night (Monday, September 26) and is also running across Jeep brand social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The campaign complements the year-long celebration of Jeep brand’s 75th Anniversary, recognizing and celebrating the brand’s global community of owners, fans and followers.

“We envisioned one singular, yet fully cohesive campaign instead of two for our new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit and Trailhawk models. The Summit model represents the hallmark of 'beautiful luxury' while the Trailhawk’s interpretation is rooted in 'beautiful capability'. This story speaks to the freedom of choice that we offer to consumers,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, FCA – Global. “Our ‘Free to Be' message embraces two important core tenants of the brand: freedom and adventure, which any Jeep brand marketing campaign is intended to deliver. ‘What Unites Us Is Stronger Than What Divides Us’ is the human-centric message that ties the vehicles and our story together. What better platform to premiere this message of unity than during a moment of such cultural significance?”

“The new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit editions were the direct response of our most loyal off-road enthusiasts looking for even more capability and of full-size SUV consumers looking for even more luxury and premium features,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand and Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “With these two vehicles, the Jeep brand continues to expand the portfolio of the most awarded SUV ever, and makes the choice for consumers looking for the ultimate premium and/or capable full-size SUV an easy one.”

Grand Cherokee represents the harmony of beautiful luxury alongside beautiful capability. The new 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee. Free to Be.

The campaign was created in partnership with mcgarybowen.

The Jeep brand took a camera crew equipped with drones and 360-degree cameras to the legendary Rubicon Trail to capture the fullest extent of Grand Cherokee Trailhawk’s capability. One nearly 2-minute video provides an inside look at the grueling, yet exhilarating trek, and how Grand Cherokee Trailhawk earned its Trail Rated® badge by proving its traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation and ground clearance capabilities. A second, 360-degree video lets fans control their view to explore in never-before-seen detail just how intense — and how beautiful — capability can be. The two videos can be seen here: 1) Hero Video, 2) 360 Video

Fans can continue to be a part of the brand’s 75th anniversary celebrations by sharing their own #MyJeepStory on the Jeep brand’s 75th anniversary microsite, My Jeep Story, in addition to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. #MyJeepStory provides a platform for the brand’s passionate community and the wider world to join the 75th anniversary celebrations by sharing their own, authentic and inspiring Jeep stories – enabled by Jeep vehicles and embodying the spirit of the brand through the pillars of freedom, adventure, authenticity and passion. Most recently, as part of Military Appreciation Month, veteran Noah Galloway, who appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” shared his inspiring and heartfelt #MyJeepStory, which can be viewed here. 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 Earns Five-star

2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 Earns Five-star Overall Safety Rating

2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 earns five stars for overall performance; highest rating in NHTSA’s vehicle evaluation program

Five-star ratings in each of three separate NHTSA crash tests – frontal barrier, side barrier and side pole

Available Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation features sensor-fusion technology, which leverages attributes of radar and camera

Fourth consecutive year Jeep Grand Cherokee has earned this distinction
2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 starts at $32,695 (excluding destination)

November 28, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Five stars is the highest single rating in NHTSA’s vehicle-evaluation program.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4’s five-star rating reflects performance in NHTSA tests that simulate:

A frontal collision with another vehicle
A side impact with another vehicle
A side impact with a pole

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 earned top marks – five stars, the highest possible rating – in each test.

The 2017 Grand Cherokee comes with more than 70 available safety and security features. Among its standard-equipment items are:

advanced multistage, driver and front-passenger air bags
advanced side-curtain air bags
advanced supplemental front-seat side air bags
and a driver-side inflatable knee bolster

And while restraint systems are critical to the Company’s safety strategy, crash-avoidance technology is also a high priority. Available on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system called Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.

The system features sensor-fusion technology, which leverages the combined benefits of cameras and radar. The technology affords greater object-detection precision because camera and radar must agree before Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation will deploy.

If camera and radar agree that a frontal impact with another vehicle appears imminent, the system pre-fills the Grand Cherokee’s brakes and transmits audible and visual warnings urging the driver to react. If there is no driver response, the system triggers a brief brake application as a tactile alert.

If the driver remains unresponsive and frontal collision risk remains, the Grand Cherokee’s brakes are applied to slow the vehicle before impact. The system may bring the vehicle to full stop if an imminent frontal collision is detected at speeds below 25 mph.

Sensor-fusion technology was once reserved for luxury-segment vehicles. Today, FCA US makes it available across six vehicle segments – from small SUV to minivan.

NHTSA acknowledges AEB as a preferred technology, though its benefits are not factored into the agency’s ratings.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 has earned a five-star safety rating from NHTSA.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 starts at $32,695, excluding destination.

FOUR WHEELER “2017 SUV of the Year”

Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Named FOUR WHEELER “2017 SUV of the Year”

Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trailhawk recognized with esteemed award from leading off-road enthusiast publication

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models are equipped with an array of off-road features that make it the most capable factory-produced Jeep Grand Cherokee ever

Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV ever

January 26, 2017 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -

The 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trailhawk – the most capable Grand Cherokee ever – has been named FOUR WHEELER “2017 SUV of the Year.” The award is given annually by the editors of the opinion-leading off-road enthusiast publication.

“The addition of the Trailhawk to the Grand Cherokee model lineup is yet another example of Jeep’s commitment to producing vehicles that are just as nimble and capable in the dirt as they are on the paved road,” said FOUR WHEELER Editor Ken Brubaker. “The Trailhawk model, which includes a unique version of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension to improve articulation and suspension travel, takes a capable vehicle and makes it even better. In addition to the great functional upgrades, the Trailhawk package adds a number of visual tweaks to create a handsome and rugged appearance.”

Over the course of a week, FOUR WHEELER’s judges conducted a variety of tests spanning more than 1,000 miles of terrain that included pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks, mud and snow at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet. During the off-road portion of testing, judges evaluated visibility from the driver seat, four-wheel-drive system selection and performance, tire performance and durability, engine power and cooling, transmission function and cooling, suspension tuning and performance and traction control system function. Judges spent time on-road evaluating driving characteristics, such as handling, ride quality, interior comfort and steering feel. Other factors also taken into consideration include price, fuel efficiency, tire size and ramp travel index (RTI), which tests suspension articulation.

“Our new Trailhawk model is the most capable Grand Cherokee ever produced, and we’re delighted the FOUR WHEELER editors have recognized its outstanding combination of off-road features,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “Trailhawk instantly provided Grand Cherokee customers even more legendary Jeep 4x4 capability, quickly becoming one of the fastest-selling and most sought-after models in our lineup.”

Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increased 8 percent in 2016.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk
The 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk exemplifies Jeep 4x4 capability with a distinctive, aggressive look, backed by Jeep Trail Rated hardware, resulting in the most capable SUV ever. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk includes Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential (ELSD) for all powertrains, a unique version of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension – developed for Trailhawk – that offers improved articulation and total suspension travel, as well as Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control, skid plates, 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement, an anti-glare hood decal and signature red tow hooks.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk model with the standard off-road package is Trail Rated. The “Trail Rated” badge indicates that the vehicle is designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording.
