2008 SXT doesnt come standard with 9 speaker Infinity Sound system

Hi there,

I live in melbourne Australia and ordered October 2007 a dodge nitro Through Brighton Chrysler jeep. finally the car arrives in december. but they advised me after signing all the paperwork, that they have shipped a 2008 model, which has smooth leather seats and automatic climate control.

a few days later after looking through the whole car and having a play, i realised that the 9 speaker infinity sound system that came with the 2007 model. is an optional extra with the 2008 model now!

I love my music and am so pisssed off that i wasnt told about this by them that i am taking them to consumer affairs.

They advised me that this has to be fitted at factory and they cant fit this in Australia.

my qusetion is:

what happens if a 2007 with infinity sound got hit in the side by something and the whole doors needed to be replaced. does the car have to be shipped back to America. of course not.

they said that the 2008 is $3,000 more expensive because is comes atndard now with leather seats and a better Alarm. But i paid $3,000 anyway to have the luxury group that comes with leather seats, upgraded alarm and electric sunroof.

anyway. if anyone reads this, what are your thoughts??

I've got exactly the same beef as you; test drove & ordered a 07 in 07 but it arrived different to the one i test drove, because it's an 08 model! no premium stereo, no 12v outlet in the back, and instead we got a climate control system, which i don't like never ordered never wanted!

We need better consumer protection.

I have the same problem at the end of last year. i to am in Oz and it was brighton motor group aswell. how did you go did the reimburse you or do anything about it?

My dealer was Nunawading, They didn't do anything to compensate, they use the "specifications subject to change" clause

Im still in contact with my dealer and trying to sort out some other problems first. Im sure it is a breach of the fair tade act. but seeing how the sound system cant be upgraded after it is out of the factor I am not sure how they can rectify the problem.
