Just cranking and cranking!!!

I didn't see a TSB for this. When my Nitro is cold it turns right over. When it is warmed up it cranks for about 3 - 5 seconds before turning over. Of course this starts when I am out of warranty!!!

Am I an isolated problem?

Just a thought: Is your Nitro 3 years old? If so it could be the battery. Have had more go bad in the Summer than in the Winter, myself. Could have it checked free at many Parts Stores. Good Luck!

It is 3 years old. I didn't realize that could be a sign of a weak battery. I never thought of that because there are no other signs at all of a weak battery. I have to take it in for a recall notice. I'll have the dealer check it.

Just Won't Stay Running

I have a 2009 Nitro SLT that won't stay running. Every once in a while I go to get inside and start the truck and it will turn over, run for 2 seconds and the shut off. It will do this when the engine is hot or cold. I can try about 10 times and still get no where. Today when I started the truck it started to act up on me and after about 4 tries the truck then would not even turn over. I tried 3 more times and the it magically turns over and stays running. I have already changed my battery and now i'm lost.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to see you are having difficulties. Do you have more than one key? If so, try the other key and see if it makes a difference. If it does, the theft deterrant system is not recognizing your key. If switching keys does not make a difference, disconnect the negative cable on your battery, for about 10 minutes, to reset the computer. If this still has no effect, you may need a new computer, and will have to take it to the dealer. Good luck.
