Dodge Nitro MOPAR CAI 77070002

After seeing what was available from the new 2009 MOPAR Performance Catalog

http://www.dodge-nitro.com/dodge-nit...2316/#post6355

I decided to order a CAI (Cold Air Intake System) and Cat-Back Exhaust System for my Nitro.

With the future not clear for Chrysler, or even my Five Star Dealer (Dealership may be For Sale, but who would at presently want to pay several million for it?) or my step son-in-law that works there as a Service Technician, I chose to place my MOPAR order just before Christmas.

My thinking is having ordered these parts from a Chrysler Dealer and having them installed by said Dealer could help protect my present “Lifetime Warranty” and extended Service Contracts if any questions arose down the line. My son-in-law said he did not see any problems in even adding aftermarket parts.

The MOPAR CAI, # 77070002 listed for $380.00, and the Exhaust System, # P5155110 list was $779.00. To help out I did receive his employee pricing which reduced these prices about 20% but I did have to pay in advance, as special ordered parts, with Sales Tax added.

The CAI was available for order, but the Exhaust had no available date of shipping. Time will tell, things being in flux @ Chrysler if and when these parts will come in.

I plan to have my son-in-law install both at the Dealership and will supply my camera for him to take a few pictures when installing both, and will post them here.

I would think the CAI unit is in since they had it available in 4 days but no shipping info on the exhaust and I told them not to call till both were in. Will call them tomorrow and check on them. Check back again.

I am too! Don't know what is going on. All parts were ordered and paid for back on December 23 but nothing yet! Called last week and Parts Department was to call me back but has not as of yet! Will try again.

Well not good news. Just called Parts and was told CAI unit has been shipped, but the CAT-BACK Exhaust System is on back order with expected delivery date of March 17th! Also found it interesting that my order was the only one shown in the system.

But lets face it, how many here in the Midwest this Winter with all this snow are even considering installing High Performance Parts on their Nitro at this time. More important issues going on. Chrysler has already been paid since I pre-paid this order. Guess I did my part in their "Bail-Out". Ha Ha!

Vendors are also in trouble in this economy, and may be concerned how long they must wait to receive payment from Chrysler if they produced it. Could be waiting for more orders to flow in. Thanks for your interest scans007, but for now no install or pictures. Please check back.

I wouldn't put it on till march-ish anyway........so it's perfect. I have a lot of stereo work/body stuff to do...then I gotta fix the squishy suspension, then I can work on performance! I wish the wife had got an RT for a few grand more.....eesh

Sorry but I wanted to show you more, but the Service Technician (relative) forgot to take any pictures when he was installing this CAI. (said it was a simple install) Hell the camera was hanging from the inside mirror and he had the Nitro three days. Anyway looks good to me and I don't have it back yet since they are doing the roof rail "Rapid Response" deal on it Monday. Everyone here might have the same deal done since my Dealership has 60 Nitro's to do and it takes four hours to perform. I would be surprised if they have sold more than 60 2007,2008 and 2009s here, so this recall type of modification must effect ALL Nitros! As I posted before, Thanks Chrysler for taking care of us Nitro owners!

With the changes to the exhaust and adding the Mopar CAI I could not be more pleased. Like driving a different sounding vehicle and response is now very good and will get you in trouble with speeding, if you don't watch out!
