The performance increase that people refer to is not from changing a filter but to replace the original factory air box assembly with a K&N Cold Air Intake system. This system not only provides better air flow by using a low resistance air filter but it removes some of the restrictions that the OEM system has in flow and channels a cooler air to the intake providing a better combustion.

At least that is the story. Your results may vary, offer void where prohibited.

least thing i can say is that i have a lifetime {1,000,000 miles} k & n air filter in my nitro to go along with the lifetime powertrain warranty. still searching for improvements but at a slower pace. in a few days i will be getting two loud air horns installed for my peace of mind. i know this won't help the performance or looks. guess i should have gone with the cold air intake system, never too late but for my current problem i will be dealing with a mega ton of dust on my rides to work and to home. later people!

2. COLD AIR INTAKE KITS.
These kits provide noticeable horsepower
and torque gains under varying atmospheric
conditions. With an aggressive sound, these
intakes provide performance you can hear
and feel.
Cold Air Intake Kits include all
necessary mounting hardware and a pre-oiled
washable and reusable filter and are emissions
legal in all 50 states.

A CAI kit is shown in the new 2009 NITRO Accessory Book from Chrysler. Ask your dealer on it's price, (to install?) if interestered. Report back here with part # and price if you do. THANKS! We would all like to know more.
