Anniversary of sorts

Was too busy to log in a couple weeks ago but here we go: I have recently completed my first 100,000 miles on my 2007 NItro RT, which I bought new. Pics of the car are in the archive, added MyGig system with backup camera, cold air kit and HD headlites with LED park lites since last posting.

There have been no significant problems with this outstanding car. It is still unique on the market as far as I know with the 5000 lb tow rating. I have had to replace the odd sensor now and then and there was a (dealer responsible) problem with the air conditioner that has been resolved.

I am having a little trouble with the MyGig but I have added the aftermarket "LockPick" system to liberate some of the built in features that MoPar has not released. The issue is with the Lockpick I believe, but I expect it to be resolved soon.

I am going to drive the wheels off this car as I see no equivalent replacement. I commute 150 miles a day as well as towing the boat when I can go bass fishing.

I was glad to hear of the short reprieve Chrysler/Fiat has granted to the Nitro. This car is still very much of an eye-catcher with its retro styling and the performance of the 4 liter mill surprises many, indeed.

Nice to hear from a happy Nitro owner and I have never seen a report from one with 100K! Should make us all pleased to know that we may be able to get the same mainly trouble free 100,000 miles out of ours, too. Have a son-in-law that is a Tech for Chrysler and always tells me that the Nitro is really built to last. Guess you prove that. Thanks for your Post and good luck on your next 100K of driving. Guess we all know when the Nitro is replaced it will no longer really be a truck!

Anniversary of sorts

I forgot to mention that the headlights are the Halos. I got the ones with the black background. Rick, your instructions were, as usual, faultless. I printed them out and gave them to my maintenance crew with the lites. Next thing you know, the lights are in. I have had zero trouble with them, and would recommend them to anybody who is suffering with the somewhat crappy lights on the Nitro.. The Halos are simply superior.

I got my Lockpick reset this morning (and learned how to do it myself...next time). I understand there is an adjustment somewhere on the MyGig that lets you raise the volume level of the nav and the Uconnect to the same level as the radio, I just haven't found it yet.

The other thing I did to the car that isn't in the gallery photos was to get a California vanity plate. Ready for this ??

It is "NITROOH". Eat your hearts out !!!

Have fun with your Nitros, folks. I am.

Thanks Roadie,

Before buying this car, I compared critical specs for what I felt were the main competitors. Power, handling, turning radius, fuel economy, tow rating, etc. the Nitro was the best. I have seen nothing that might compare, except maybe for the new Ford Edge Sport (300 hp V-6), and I am not sure about the tow rating. When I am not commuting, I drag a bass boat out to the Calif Delta. I don't fish the lakes any more, so don't have to tow up and down the mountains. The Nitro works great towing here in my area. I was planning to put leather in but the upholstery is in great shape except for the carpet, so don't know when or if I will do the leather.

Roadie, I am truly looking forward to the next 100,000. If nothing else, just to figure out some more cool stuff to do to this truly great car.
