MyGIG Backup

What does the MyGIG write on the harddrive? The system software, map, gracenote files and personal files like pics and music? Is it possible to make a backup via USB stick?

The harddrive should survive cold winters and hot summers? Hard to believe that this should work over years. If it will have to be replaced some day, I would want to change the harddrive myself and upgrade to a SSD.

But what happens if a new harddrive is installed? I guess nothing happens, if there is no way to transfer a backup from the old harddrive to the new one. My dealer told me that in this case the MyGIG has to be sent to Becker. Of course ... and this would cost a lot of money.

I doubt you could back up the hard drive via the USB stick.

I've had my RER in my car for a couple years now, and it was used when I got it. Its still going strong, even with dealing with Canadian winters, and 40*C summers.

Its not a normal HD, its a tougher, automotive HD.
