Kingston was the first capital of Canada, but has been in existence since the 1600s. It's about midway between Toronto and Montreal in the beautiful 1,000 islands region. If you're into historic buildings and military forts, Kingston is worth a visit.

Sounds like it was settled about the same time as my home town, Southampton, LI, NY. Settled in 1620, incorporated in 1640, the oldest English settlement in NY. The Dutch were in NYC at the time!
