Nitro in West Oz

This is Tim, riding the first private Nitro off the first shipment in West Australia (or so my dealer told me). I have had it for 2 months now. It is a khaki SXT CRD turbo 5-speed auto. In Aust, SXT is the equivalent of the American SLT package G, with standard 4x4, RT performance suspension and 20in wheels. I wanted something different to the mass and it was either a Hummer H3 or the Nitro. The latter won because it has the 460Nm CRD turbo diesel engine and the sweet (Mercedes) 5-speed auto. Except for the less than perfect finishing quality (comparing to Japanese cars), it has exceeded my expectation as a 4x4. I have not regretted my decision since.

What is "...less than perfect..." regarding your Nitro's finish? I am particularly pleased with and impressed by the finish of my Nitro R/T. I bought my wife a new Toyota in February, when I bought my Nitro, and I would say the Nitro's finish quality is easily equal to that of her Toyota.

What I meant was in comparison to Japanese-built cars as opposed to japanese-brand cars. On my Nitro, there are dirt particles under the paint in some places (you can see lumps when looking at an angle); The paint work was chipped near the headlight (most likely during built when they fit the light assembly) and they covered with touch-up paint! The sound deadener material was installed over the plastic under the wheel arches (on diesel version, logically shouldn't they be the other way round so that the plastic can protect them from mud and dirt?), and there are big gaps between the sound deaner and the plastic where dirt and mud can accumulate in between (which I closed up by putting in an extra plastic plugs between the two other existing plugs). Having said that, Nitros are better finished than other new Jeeps that I saw at the dealer where plastic parts don't fit or line up correctly.

What you described sounds horrid. I would be very disappointed if I found such defects and other issues with my Nitro. Surely your dealer can remedy most of these problems.
