It seems as though two models in Chrysler Canada’s truck line-up will be discontinued after the 2011 model year. The demise of the Dodge Nitro compact SUV and the Ram Dakota mid-size pickup isn’t much of a surprise, though.

Canadian sales of the Nitro totalled 1,103 in 2010, and have dropped by 62% during the first five months of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010. To put that into perspective, the Journey found 20 times as many owners.
The Nitro is a brutish-looking little truck, but its shortcomings outweighed its qualities. Namely, the absence of interior room, especially foot space, and the heavy fuel consumption from its 3.7- and 4.0-litre V6 engines. In 2011, only one trim level remains in Canada, and its base price is $31,695.

As for the Dakota, Chrysler only moved out 1,715 units in Canada last year compared to over 54,000 full-size Ram pickups. Clearly, the Dakota’s big brother offers a wider selection of models and several are less expensive than the Dakota itself. Why buy a mid-size when you can get a full-size for less money?
The Jeep Liberty, another of Chrysler’s slow sellers with 2,993 Canadian sales in 2010, will still be offered for the 2102 model year.
The article refers to Chrysler Canada, so it appears to me, at least, that these will not be available for sale in Canada, but will still be available in US? (We can only hope)! There was a previous article that the Nitro will have an extended 2011 build year, until the new Liberty/Nitro Fiat designed replacements are ready. I don't really know what the difference between US and Canadian models might be, except for DRL, possibly other things. I don't believe that the Canadian models are built to European export specs, which have to meet more stringent lighting requirements. Our neighbors to the North are more than welcome to travel South to purchase the vehicle of their dreams.

Sad news for Chrysler and for nitro and dakota enthusiasts out there. Anyway, there are still replacement parts just in case they would encounter trouble with their cars. Once an owner but used to sell it with the guy in Orlando. i forseen what would happen in the future that's what i did such thing...
Nitro: The last Nitro will be made in December. It won't return as a 2012 model as the company devotes its resources to its fraternal twin, the Jeep Liberty.
The Dodge Caliber and Dodge Nitro are nearing the end of their lives and will cease production soon, Chrysler has announced. But before they go away for good, both models will get new trims and packaging.

Chrysler decided to extend production on its 2011 Dodge Nitro (there will be no 2012 model year) so that it can fulfill orders related to a burst in customer demand for the model, the automaker said. Nitro sales are up 24% so far this year. Joining the Heat trim, a new R/T trim will be added to the 2011 Nitro lineup. The Heat 4.0, Detonator and Shock trims will no longer be produced.
The R/T Nitro gets 20-inch wheels, power heated seats and leather upholstery. A 260-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6 is standard, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Heat model sticks with a 210-hp 3.7-liter V-6. Both models are available with four-wheel drive. Neither trim has pricing info yet.
Production of 2011 Nitro will end in December. The Jeep Liberty, a sibling vehicle, will continue to be produced for the 2012 model year, until its successor is ready.
