2011 Ram to have Outdoorsman model, new navigation
The 2011 Ram 1500 will carry on with the same powertrain, but several changes are intended to increase sales, including the previously mentioned factory-installed spray-in bedliner, a new midline navigation system with the hard-drive stereo, and a standard touch-screen stereo with hard drive on Sport models.
The moderately equipped SLT model is expected to be responsible for a full half of sales, with the base ST taking one another fifth, and the rest split between Laramie, Sport, and Outdoorsman. The new Outdoorsman model takes over from the old TRX, and is targeted at customers who hunt, fish, or camp, with added standard features for those activities. Big Horn and Lone Star models will continue as customer-preferred option packages, and the Sport model now has its own price class. An active on demand 4×4 transfer case will be standard on Big Horn, Lone Star, Sport, and Laramie 4×4s.
Monotone Lamarie trucks will be built first without wheel flares, but with a $100 credit; these will be added later and the credit will be dropped.
The Ram will have three new paint colors – deep cherry red crystal pearl (yes, that’s one color), white gold metallic, and deep forest green pearl.
The Ram 1500 has best in class aerodynamic efficiency, triple sealed doors for a quieter ride, class exclusive features such as the Ram Box cargo management system (built only in Warren, Michigan) and heated steering wheel, with optional dual exhaust and crew-cab in-floor storage. The multi-link coil rear suspension greatly increases ride, comfort, and cornering, with only a minimal impact on capacity.
The Ram 2500’s tow rating increased on 2011 models from 20,000 to 22,000 lb, when buyers choose the diesel and 4.1 axle ratio, indicating that the rear axle may have been beefed up to handle the extra load.
In addition, both Ram 2500 and 3500 have new optional power folding tow mirrors on some models (with late – February – availability), three new colors (the same ones added to Ram 1500), a standard EVIC (advanced trip computer), standard tire pressure monitoring, and standard trailer brake control on all but ST models.
The new midline navigation system is available with the hard drive stereo. Ram 3500 also has optional polished aluminum dual rear wheels (optional on SLT, standard on Laramie). Both have a crew cab option. Half of the Ram Heavy Duty pickup buyers use them for work, the other half for recreation.
Ram 2500 and 3500 were Motor Trend’s 2010 Truck of the Year, and feature either the Hemi gas engine or the highly desirable Cummins diesel, which does not require urea or any other diesel emissions fluid. Ram materials indicate that while Ford’s new diesel has higher peak torque, the Cummins still has the best in class low-end torque.
A missive to dealers indicated that the Power Wagon was on its way, along with the Big Horn and Lone Star models. Trim levels are ST, SLT, Laramie, Outdoorsman, and Power Wagon; three quarters of buyers choose the SLT and Laramie models. The Outdoorsman model is based on the former TRX and is expected to account for just 5% of sales; Power Wagon is likewise expected to be a niche model (and is based on the Ram 2500 only, where Outdoorsman is available on both Rams).

recently bought a 2011 Ram Club Cab. One thing i really appreciate is the sounds. It's very, very good compared to my '03 stock system. I have nothing to say with the performance coz people can see how it performs. im gonna keep this truck for 8-10 years and somewhat will sustain the maintenance if ever it gets trouble.
