Chrysler Australia to Support the National Jeep Jamboree 2010
MULGRAVE, AUSTRALIA – April 23, 2010: Chrysler Australia is proud to announce that it is the key partner for the National Jeep Jamboree 2010.
Running from 30 September to 3 October at Lardner Park and organized by the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club, the 2010 “Jambo” is set to be the largest Jeep owner’s event ever held in the Southern Hemisphere.
“This is an iconic event for an iconic brand,” said Gerry Jenkins, Managing Director, Chrysler Australia.
“It’s one of the unique opportunities where owners get together to share their passion for the brand. It’s kinda like Harley and Sturgis,” said Jenkins.
The Jeep Jamboree concept started in the U.S.A in 1953, where in a bid to boost the economy of Georgetown, California, Mark A. Smith organised a Jeep trek across the Sierra Nevada Mountains and through the old Rubicon trail. While the event is only held every two years in Australia, more than 30 Jeep Jamborees are held in the US every year, including the annual Rubicon Jeep Jamboree.
The National Jeep Jamboree is only run every two years and hasn’t been held in Victoria since 2004. In a show of one-upmanship, Chrysler Australia and the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club are determined to create the best Jambo yet.
Not just a typical show’n’shine, Lardner Park will be the base camp and launching point for four days of four wheel driving of all levels, a trade alley, children’s activities and family orientated social events, all based around the Jeep lifestyle. This years Jamboree is expected to attract over 500 Jeep vehicles and more than 1,000 visitors per day.
Access to public and private competition circuits, as well as an extensive array of off-road tracks in nearby National and State Parks will be utilised throughout the Jamboree, giving attendees plenty of space to enjoy their Jeep.
Gerry Jenkins said he was excited to be involved in such an important Jeep event.
“This will be a great event. It will give Jeepers an opportunity to meet other Jeep owners in a relaxed and fun environment.
“We’re looking forward to watching the event develop over the coming months to be, what we think, will be the best Jeep Jamboree that Australia has seen,” concluded Jenkins.
