Windsor to two new vehicles?
April 21st, 2010
An article in the Windsor Star suggests that the Windsor, Ontario minivan plant will lose the barely-selling Volkswagen Routan but gain two new vehicles, probably the Dodge Dakota and one other vehicle. The Star credited Allpar with breaking the news that the “lifestyle” version of the Dodge / Ram Dakota would be based on the minivan platform, and be similar to the
Dodge Rampage concept shown in 2006.
The Star reported that they were told two new body codes were definitely to be built in Windsor, one of which has body code BU;
both may be trucks. BU is to be a carryover platform but a new program. They also suggested that Fiat would announce the new vehicles later today, as well as the rumored Alfa Romeo to be built on the Chrysler LX or LY platform at Bramalea.
