CEMA Charity Car Show

Charity Car Show
CEMA Charity Car Show set for June 13

Posted Thursday, May 21, 2009, 2:09 pm in Auburn Hills, Company, Employee, Mopar

The rumble of “six packs” and other high-performance cars from the peak of the muscle car era will take center stage at this year’s Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association (CEMA) annual car show on the grounds of the Walter P. Chrysler Museum on Saturday, June 13.

Owners of vehicles featuring “six pack” carburetors like the Mustang, Camaro, AMX and others will fit right in along side the Dodge Charger, Dodge Coronet, Plymouth Barracuda and Plymouth Road Runner. Race organizers say everyone is welcome to participate and show off their hot rods, muscle cars, classic cars, trucks, bikes and just about anything with wheels.

CEMA is a nonprofit organization established to promote motorsport heritage and to support the recreational activities and camaraderie of its members and their families.

The theme of this year’s show will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1969 high-performance-package cars.

Former Chrysler design executive Tom Gale and his son Tom will present “Then and now in Chrysler Design” in the museum auditorium at 11 a.m. Tom Gale was the former head of Design and Executive Vice President of Product Development before retiring in 2000. His son Jeff currently works in the Product Design Office.

This year, the show will honor the “Mopar Missile” cars thanks to sponsorship from Stewart Pomeroy, the photo historian for the “Mopar Missile.” Several race cars will be on site along with many of the original crew members.

The show is free to spectators, but there will be a $4 group rate admission fee for the museum the day of the event. Goody bags will be handed out to the first 200 registered vehicles, and event T-shirts will be available for purchase at the CEMA tent. Each vehicle entry will get one free museum admission ticket.

Every entry will be eligible for one of the 21 awards and door prizes. Those with Internet access can visit the show’s Web site for more information and details at CEMA - Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association. Questions can be sent to carshow@cemaclub.org.

Proceeds from this year’s show benefit the Walter P. Chrysler Museum Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization.

Important Dates: Online registrations closes on May 26; registration payments are due by May 31. You may register the day of the show, but it will cost $20 vs. $15 during preregistration period.
