Chrysler to Apply for Abatement on Potential Investment

KOKOMO, IN - Chrysler Group LLC plans to apply for tax abatement, in preparation for a potential $43.3 million equipment investment, the City of Kokomo announced today.
“I am very pleased to know that Chrysler is considering a new investment in our community,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “The company is a cornerstone of our local economy, and we are committed to supporting them, now and in the future.”
With the support of the administration, the Kokomo Common Council will consider the abatement request at its April 26 meeting. Even with the abatement, the investment would add up to $925,000 to the local tax rolls over the next five years, and help Chrysler bring employees back from lay-off status.
“Chrysler has been a part of our community for more than 70 years,” said Debra Cook, Director of Development. “Their continued investment is a direct result of our highly-skilled workforce, and a strong partnership between the company and our community.”
