Mopar block party packs Golden, CO

The Mopar Big Block Party, held on Thursday July 9, served as the “Official Starter” of the 30th Annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals and once again packed the streets of downtown Golden, Colo.



Mopar® once again transformed the streets of downtown Golden, Colo., into the epicenter of the Mopar Nation with the eighth annual Mopar Big Block Party on Thursday, July 9. The “Official Starter” of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals drew hordes of Mopar fans and enthusiasts on the eve of Mopar’s headline event.

SpeedFreaks TV and radio hosts Kenny Sargent, Statt Mann Caruthers and Chris Jacobs emceed the festivities, treating fans to a “Mopar Squares” quiz show with Team Mopar NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson. Johnson also joined Mopar-powered drivers V. Gaines, Johnny Gray, Rickie Jones, Danny Gruninger, Jack Beckman, Matt Hagan, Mopar racing legend Judy Lilly and NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle star Matt Smith in a driver signing and fan meet-and-greet.

RaceCentral TV and Radio’s Kurt Hansen hosted his show via live remote from Woody’s in Golden as fans strolled the streets and viewed Mopar show cars from yesterday and today, including the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar. Local band Rated M provided the sweet sounds from the Mopar Stage.

“It’s just a lot of camaraderie with a lot of true blue Mopar folks,” said Johnson about the event. “It shows Mopar’s dedication to the sport.”
