November U.S. sales announced

November U.S. sales announced

Posted Tuesday, Dec 2, 2008 at 3:36 pm in Company News

Chrysler LLC today reported total November 2008 U.S. sales of 85,260 units, down 10 percent versus October 2008 (94,530 units), and down 47 percent from the same month last year. Inside these total numbers, fleet sales decreased 63 percent versus last November, as planned, and retail sales were in line with the retail industry (down 36 percent). The company’s U.S. retail market share increased 0.6 percentage points in November.

“2008 will go down as unlike any other year in the industry, and thus, comparisons to 2007 sales have become irrelevant,” Jim Press, Vice Chairman and President, said. “In this environment, we need to evaluate sales based on month-to-month trends, with the last two months of the year being especially important to determine if we have established a base for sales in 2009. Our goal is to fight to maintain our share of the retail market month-to-month by keeping a strong advertising and incentive presence in the marketplace and finding financing solutions for our customers, roughly 75 percent of whom finance their vehicles with dealer assistance.”

November’s industry sales declines reflect the combined impact of weak consumer confidence and tight credit, and highlight the need for government action. This week Chrysler LLC will present its Viability and Accountability Plan in detail to Congress regarding the Company’s request for an immediate working capital bridge loan.

November Sales Highlights

Sales for the all-new 2009 light-duty Dodge Ram increased as it makes its way to dealerships across the country. While the sell-down of the previous model continues as planned, sales of the 2009 model for the month reached 1,958 units, up 72 percent versus last month. Compared to October 2008, total Dodge Ram sales were down 12 percent (15,538 units), performing better than the industry overall.

Jeep® Liberty sales in November increased 6 percent (4,171 units) compared with October 2008 (3,918 units).

The all-new Dodge Challenger continues to draw attention. Sales of the vehicle reached 3,364 units in November, a 12 percent increase from October 2008 sales.

The Company finished the month with 399,724 units of inventory, or a 117-day supply. Inventory is down 17 percent compared with November 2007, when it totaled 480,424 units.

December Incentives

Chrysler remains committed to supporting customer needs for financing and incentives during the current economic conditions. Current deals provide customers an opportunity to take advantage of solid offers on the remaining 2008 model year inventory at the best deals of the year. The incentive plan will focus on aggressive cash rebates up to $6,000 on 2008 models, up to $3,000 on 2009 models and discounted APR financing that drive lower monthly payments.

In addition to the significant cash incentives, in several markets some 2008 model year vehicles are available with a zero percent APR for up to 72 months; and 2009 model year vehicles are available with an APR as low as 1.9 percent for up to 72 months.

For returning lease customers, Chrysler will offer a Lease Loyalty allowance of up to $750 toward a new retail purchase. For consumers interested in leasing through independent financial institutions, Chrysler offers Bonus Cash of up to $2,000 on select 2008 model year vehicles.

Did not really find what you have asked, but I will continue to look. However there were 67,475 Nitro SUV built in calender year 2007 and 34,332 built so far in 2008 for a total of 2007, 2008 & 2009 models of 101,807! This figure does not include (I think) production of the 2007 Nitro built in 2006. Did find the Press Release from Chrysler on the "New" 2007 Dodge Nitro that you may find interesting reading. On August 15, 2006, the Dodge Nitro entered production.

(from DaimlerChrysler Press Release)

The 2007 Dodge Nitro is the first mid-size sport-utility vehicle for Dodge and complements the brand's current lineup of cars, minivans, trucks, commercial vehicles and a full-size SUV.

"Being the first mid-size SUV for the brand, Dodge Nitro had to personify the bold, powerful and street-smart attitude of Dodge," said Murphy. "In a world of mostly bland SUVs, the 2007 Dodge Nitro has the design, engineering and performance to inspire consumers and ignite the mid-size SUV market."

Three models are available: Dodge Nitro, Dodge Nitro SLT and Dodge Nitro R/T. Available on the Dodge Nitro and Dodge Nitro SLT is a 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 engine. It produces 210 hp (157 kW) @ 5,200 rpm and 235 lb.-ft. (319 N•m) @ 4,000 rpm. The Dodge Nitro R/T features a new 4.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 255 hp (190 kW) @ 5,800 rpm and 275 lb.-ft. torque (360 N•m) @ 4,000 rpm. Standard on the Dodge Nitro R/T and optional on the Nitro SLT is a new performance suspension and 20-inch tires and chrome-clad aluminum wheels, providing performance-oriented drivers with fun-to-drive handling and a firm ride.

Three transmissions — one manual and two automatic — will be offered. The Dodge Nitro comes with a standard six-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic. The Dodge Nitro SLT has a standard four-speed automatic. The Dodge Nitro R/T has a standard five-speed automatic. All U.S. models offer 4x2 and 4x4 capability. The new mid-size SUV boasts excellent acceleration, braking, handling and towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. when properly equipped.

Standard on the Dodge Nitro SLT and Dodge Nitro R/T is a new Chrysler Group feature, the LOAD 'N GO TM cargo floor that slides 18 inches rearward for easy and convenient loading and unloading of packages, and can hold up to 400 pounds. It is made of a heavy-duty plastic for easy cleaning. A compact utility table is an available option on the Dodge Nitro model.

The Dodge Nitro also includes many standard safety features, including Electronic Stability Program, Anti-lock Brake System, Electronic Roll Mitigation and side-curtain air bags.

Available options include a DVD-based navigation system with traffic data update, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, AM/FM/6-disc/DVD/MP3 audio with premium speakers with a subwoofer, remote start, UConnect TM , and SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

"With its performance-oriented 4.0-liter engine and LOAD 'N GO cargo floor, the Dodge Nitro continues the brand's history of creating new and game-changing products and features," said Murphy.

There was the 1992 Dodge Viper, for example. The outrageously sculpted and brutishly powerful sports car turned heads, palpitated hearts and became the icon of the brand.

In 1994 the big-rig design of the Dodge Ram pickup truck instantly made every other pickup truck in its class boring.

And the Stow 'n Go TM seating system, introduced in the 2005 model year Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans, reasserted Chrysler Group's leadership position in that market.

"Just like those innovations, the 2007 Dodge Nitro will reinvigorate its segment, the mid-size sport-utility market," said Murphy.

Chrysler Group previously announced that the Dodge brand will expand to Europe and volume markets overseas, and the Dodge Nitro will be part of that expansion. The vehicle will be available in markets outside North America, in both left- and right-hand drive, by the first quarter of 2007.

The 2007 Dodge Nitro will be built at the Toledo (Ohio) North Assembly Plant alongside the Jeep® Liberty. Dodge Nitro will arrive in U.S. dealerships later in 2006 as a 2007 model year vehicle.

With a U.S. market share of 6.9 percent, Dodge is the fifth-largest nameplate in the United States and the eighth-largest nameplate in the automotive industry. In 2004, Dodge sold more than 1.4 million vehicles in the global market. Dodge continues to lead the minivan market segment with a 20 percent market share in the United States. In the truck market, Dodge has an 18 percent market share. In the car market, Dodge has a 4.5 percent market share. The Dodge brand will arrive in Europe and other volume markets outside of North America starting in 2006.

From what I can tell there were only 966 2007 Dodge Nitros built in 2006, so if you add that to the production reported thus far for ALL NITRO Production, that total is now 102,773 with many not sold setting on Dealer lots or Company storage facilities. It would not surprise me to see an announcement this week from Chrysler in it's 7B request for a Government Bridge Loan that the Nitro will be discontinued. I too am a happy Dodge Nitro Owner.

Hi Rick
Thank you for your help. I don't think there are 50 Nitros on the road in Milwaukee. I have seen maybe 15 total this last year. And I think 2 or 3 are same truck. My dealer had like 10 07 Nitros on lot in 07. How I think he has maybe 5 09 and maybe had 10 08 all last year. I could be wrong but every time I was there for work the same Nitros were on the lot. I like my truck allot. Nice looking truck not like all other SUVs on the road. It is a very tough looking truck. My wife likes it more then my 99 Dodge 4x4 Truck.
