If you are interested in purchasing a Dodge Nitro, how important would it be for you to wait for the SRT version.

Re: Would you wait for the SRT version?

If they can fit a HEMI in there, sure, I'll wait for it.. if it only ends up being the 5.7 vs the 6.1, oh well.. there's plenty of room for improvement on the 5.7

I will be in the market way before the srt hits the market, if it does, and so its the R/T for me.

Yes, I ended up buying the R/T version. Certainly quick that's for sure.

It comes with that same transmissions that the srt-8s get.

BTW, there's plenty of room for them to fit the hemi in it. With that 5 speed auto there, I like to see them do it. Honestly, I don't think they will because it will hurt the durango sales.

I didn't wait for the SRT and got the R/T. It is OK, but I sure would love to see a turbo or Supercharger on the 4.0. It just needs to add that kick in the seat feeling to the launch. Other than that, so far so good.

Chrysler's SRT Is "Sticking Around"

Chrysler's SRT Is "Sticking Around," Says Automaker

Date posted: 03-06-2009

DETROIT — Chrysler on Thursday used the forum of its Red Letter Dodge blog to confirm that its SRT operation is not getting the ax. Last month, General Motors said it was disbanding its High Performance Vehicle Operations as a cost-cutting move.

"SRT is sticking around and we have to make final calls on the lineup," said Steve Bartoli, Chrysler's vice president for global product planning. "We are big fans of SRT, what it does for us and our customers."

He added: "Yes, [Chrysler parent] Ceberus [sic] is committed to this cause."

Chrysler's SRT operation is responsible for such products as the Dodge Challenger SRT8, the Dodge Charger SRT8 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

The comments were part of a live online chat with "a select group of people in something we call the Customer Advisory Board — a private online community we've created to give us direct feedback on products and other topics," according to Red Letter Dodge blog.

Bartoli skimped on SRT product details in the blog, only making general comments such as: "We will weahter [sic] the storm, we will not sit around and await fate, we will create destiny."

He did add that: "We are working on a sedan as we speak. We will look at many styling options."

Late last month, Ford touched base with Inside Line to underscore that its SVT operations are ongoing. Two new vehicles are due out of SVT later this year: the 2010 Shelby GT500 and the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.

Buy the SRT version? Yes... You dont say no to Nitro SRT. We can all hope for the 6.1 engine or bigger. But how long will it take??? I will keep on dreaming... so far in my R/T.

The future will tell!
