Sales of the Toledo-built Jeep Wrangler bucked the overall industry sales trend last month, climbing 16 percent in March from a year earlier to an even 10,000 units. For the first three months of the year, Wrangler sales are up 17 percent from the same period last year to 25,450 units.
Sales of the other two Toledo products, Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro, continued to struggle. Chrysler reported selling 4,565 Libertys in March, down 38 percent from a year ago, and selling
1,894 Nitros, down 52 percent from a year ago.
For the first quarter of the year, Liberty sales are down 48 percent to 11,974 and Nitro sales were off 66 percent to 5,218.
