IF you are intrested in a nitro,,,,,,,Look for someting else!!!
I got mine in Nov 18-2006 and its the second time i have send it for a recall cocerning the Computer( thats what they are sayng) the first time was for a transmision issue and now for the ABS. The dealer i go for these services does'nt explain clearly what is the problem. i told them once that i feel the brakes a little low in the application the only thing the say is is that there will be a charge of $40.00 for the service, i also explained that the aceleration reaction is a little delayed and that the tork of the transmition is a little weak. Also the maintenance charges are way too higth for the type of vehicle, $250.00 for a 6000 mile check. My wife's BMW has the same Check and the Diference is only $10.00 and the vehicle has twice the value.my question is If i have paid $2,000.00 for an extended warranty should i at least receive a complete answer to my questions? should the service quality will not rely only in $$$$$. If i new that the maintenance fees were that higth. I rather got me an H3.
Re: IF you are intrested in a nitro,,,,,,,Look for someting else!!!
one question?
why would how much you paid for the car determine what is paid for service for the 6000 mile check?
that would be like saying if i have a Nitro R/t, i should pay more for an oil change then someone that has a Nitro STX

Simple:
Dodge is made in USA. Parts are cheaper because of the distance we are, The replacement parts of an american vehicle are less expensive than an european vehicle. I am comparing expenses in two different veicles Dodge vs BMW. And why am i paying that much for less expensive vehicle.
Either BMW is giving a great price on a service or Dodge is ripping you off.

what? replacement parts are cheaper because of the distance they travel? parts for both import and domestic companies are made globally and shipped globally. they dont specifically make parts in america for domestics and in lets say germany for foreign cars
Re: IF you are intrested in a nitro,,,,,,,Look for someting else!!!
I believe the underlying problem here is Mr. S has unfortunately pulled one of the problem Nitros out of the hat and may in fact also be dealing with a less than quality dealer. I sympathize but the vast majority are having much better experiances. Input is still helpful though even if it is a bad review.
On the other hand warriorbob is right. Today it's all about how new a car is not what brand or the original location of the parts to be used. New models (as in Nitro) and of course other vehicles with bigger engines or factory performance parts tend to cost more at service time. Another thing one needs to take into consideration is "new car padding". For instance BMW has a new car warranty that includes maintenance repairs. Do ya think they're really doing those repairs for free? No... they're "padded in" upfront in the original price of the car. With the Nitro being well priced that's not going to be the case.
My hope is Mr. S gets his Nitro repaired correctly and maybe finds another dealer for service.
Re: IF you are intrested in a nitro,,,,,,,Look for someting else!!!
Mr. S stated he purchased his Nitro nov 18 2006
that means it had to be a very early production vehicle
anyone with any automotive knowledge knows that it is very possible that their will be some problems with a first year vehicle and especially if it is a very early build.
the problems seem to have already addressed by TSB's and can and will berepaired by the dealership under warranty for free
as for the maintence cost and parts cost top gun explained this way better then i did

I think the problem for Mr. S is he wanted a swimming pool & bought a bath tub. now he is mad because the bath tub is not a swimming pool. Also if he thinks he won't have problems with an H3 he hasn't done a lot of research.
