Just replaced the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 40 series muffler. I am using 2.5" mandrel bends for the exhaust and have only at this time replaced the large muffler section. I plan on soon completing the rest of the exhaust including the resonator right at the end of the exhaust system. It has a great sound on startup and a little rumble on idle. It isn't very intrusive upon normal driving, but I think it will be a lot more agressive sounding with the resonators removed. For a bit deeper tone I will maybe change the muffler out for the Flowmaster 50 series SUV. I will try to get a soundclip of the exhaust on startup here shortly if I can figure out how to get it posted.
Well the flowmaster muffler is about 18" long and it replace the stock 3' muffler. It required to run piping in both directions to meet up with the stock piping but it was relatively straight for the most part. I just finished off adding the 2.5" mandrel bend piping out the back and getting rid of the rear resonator. It gave it a much more agressive noticeable sound. I am going to go outside here in a bit and take a picture of the exhaust from underneath to give you an idea. Next step is to run the piping up towards the headers and replace it with new piping and high flow magnaflow catalytic converters.
Since I'm not a mechanic[ or attorney] ,I'm wondering if changing the exhaust system will or does negate or void the warranty ! Does anyone know the answer ?
Good question. I doubt it but since there is the strong possibility there is a reason i am keeping the stock exhaust. Always can go and bolt that sucker right back up in there. Where I live not so much of a big deal, no emissions and no one cares at the dealership anyway. If it does negate the warranty then hell, time to order up the JET Performance chip and rip out the cat's...
Wasn't able to get outside and take pictures. Realized that my mom in her infinite wisdom took my camera on vacation to Ecuador for two weeks. I will try to borrow a camera and get the pictures.
If you change thr exhaust there is no more warranty on the exhaust, they cannot void the rest of the warranty unless they can prove the exhaust change was the direct cause of whatever problem arises. warren/ magnason act passed by congress like 20 years ago & still in force.

I love how the 40 series sounded on my 2002 S-10 was thinking of doing the same if and when i buy a nitro
It sounds great at the lower rpm's up until say about 2500. I just doesn't have the rumble that I was hoping for though. Not dissapointed though by any means. Tempted to run in straight pipe for a bit.
