Angry Nitro junk power window mech

My wife was rolling the passenger's side rear window down when something broke and fell to the bottom of the door inside the panel. After joking with her that it would cost $300 dollars to get the cable fixed, I was shocked to find out that that was in deed the price the dealer wanted to fix it. Unfortunately we are 4000 miles over our warranty. I haven't found any aftermarket parts to fix this any suggestions??? I'm in desperate need to get this fixed before the winter., since the window wont stay in the up position. $300 is rediculous to pay for a plastic pulley and a metal cable. That one makes sense!! great engineering, there guys!!!

From what I understand it's a one piece unit and since you are out of warranty I might consider buying a Factory Repair Manual (investment in the future if you plan to keep your Nitro) and find a used one from a wrecking yard. Now-a-days everything is computerize and if they don't have one they can find you one. How much is the new parts assembly? Buy it new and install it yourself and save that high Service Department Labor fee. Just my two cents. This is why I alway buy the extended warranty. Not only are new cars/trucks hard to work on the parts are really expensive.

PS I did see that Nitro owner replaced one of these units himself, but he was complaining about the cost of it. Good Luck and I always hope that the replacement part has been redesigned to last a lifetime. As always may not be the case.

Let us know what you do and what year is your Nitro?

I own a 2007 silver dodge nitro 4x4 low end model. I beleive that the part itself is around $140 to buy from the dealer. I will indeed check with the local junk yards to see if they can get the part somewhere. I appreciate the feedback.
