As european it only makes sense to take the 2.8 CRD. It has a lot of power with much lower gas milage than the poor powered 3.7 fuel engine. Of all the Nitro engines it is the 2.8 diesel that has the most torque. Think of that. Don't take a 2007 modelyear. 2008-2010 models are much more reliable.
The best model to take is the R/T (or later Shock) but without the roof window, which takes a lot of head space. For a diesel the Nitro has a really great sound. Almost like a truck. The 2.8 CRD is an italian VM engine and one of the most reliable diesels worldwide.

Also, for the EU R/T there should be another (better??) suspension underneath the truck.

Thats not what I've heard. All export Nitros have stiffer/harder shock absorbers than the US Nitros. They did some suspension improvements in all 2009 models.
