Noise update

We started talking about a noise in the welcome forums and I thought it would be better to start a thread here. This is my wife's car so I don't drive it much.

The problem: 2010 Nitro Detonator has a high pitched sound when starting from a dead stop, stopping, when it is shut off and it comes to rest against the parking pin and most other times. You hear it to about 30 mph with or without the A/C on, it goes away when the road noise drowns it out and of course is louder with the windows down. It seems to be coming from the middle or front of the vehicle and is more on the right side. Also I notice that the transmission seems to hold gears longer than any other vehicle I have ever driven. By this I mean that if you give 3/4 gas and allow it to shift into 2nd and take your foot off the accelerator it holds second gear for a while.

The treatment so far:
1st trip to the dealer - of course it made no noise so nothing was done.
I took it out one day and it started to make the noise, went immediately to the dealer and took a tech out for a drive. He heard it and said "boy this will be fun to try and find".
2nd trip to dealer - they reproduced the noise and said it was an A/C valve and had to order the part. It came in within 4 days but had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment as they are busy. No big deal.
3rd trip to dealer (today) - they changed the valve and I was told that my A/C will work properly now, odd since it has been working all along but ok. I left and had to stop about 1/2 mile from the dealer and the noise is still there. I took a 3 mile tour through town and back roads just to make sure I wasn't hearing things and it was still there so back to the dealer I went. They came to get me and said that they took it for a ride and put it on the rack and found the noise is coming from the transmission (area). They said that I'll need to drop it off for a few days and they will give me a car to use. Next appointment on the 20th for this repair.

I'm not mad, things happen and they are taking care of things well in my opinion. Update to come.

Dropped the Nitro off last night, picked up a really cool 05 gold Town & Country minivan. Had to initial that I wouldn't smoke in the van and kicked a mound of ashes out when I got in. This morning put the garage door opener in the spot for the ash tray, I'm glad all the cigarettes melted the plastic to keep it from sliding around. I called the dealer on my way home since they said that I would have the loaner for the week at least. I called the salesman and I took his comments to mean they didn't even pull it in yet. I also said that if there are internal transmission parts that have gone bad I wanted a new transmission because of all the little metal chunks floating around. I was told that they are good at cleaning it up. I think I'll take a ride up there and see where it is, this may be the shortest Nitro ownership on record.
