Well I'm surprised but I bought a real expensive Factory Scheduled Maintenance Contract for my Nitro and it DOES state this service is covered @ 15K. The reason I had to look it up is I only have 10K on it after more than two years. I made the mistake of purchasing a 100,000/7 year plan. I did it, not the Dealership! My plan pays for an oil & filter change every three months regardless of miles! Thanks for making me feel better about my purchase!

In your Nitro owner's manual it should state what is recommended. If you have the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty I would think this would be a requirement. If you do not have this Factory Warranty, I guess you could pass but if there was an issue before 3 years or 36,000 miles with the front or rear axles maybe your Dealer could cancel your Factory Warranty. My Plan shows this same service is to be performed @ 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 miles. (don't think I will ever see the last two!) Transfer Case refill @ 30,000 miles could get you too.

Sorry for the bad news, but my Plan says you are good for 102,000 miles for spark plugs, wires, and timing belt. Ha Ha

Hope this helps, but not what both of us would have thought.

Thanks for your Post.

yea I have the lifetime warranty and figured that this could be a way for them to get out of making any repairs,it just surprised me cause like I said my 84 pickup had over 100K on it and was just as good as if it had 1K on it

Well I got that from reading my Extended Warranty Info Coverage and this image for the 4.0 R/T engine is from my Nitro CD Service Manual. So I would think this is another good reason that one would consider purchasing an extended warranty if they plan to keep their Nitro after the standard Factory Warranty of 3 year/36,000 runs out.

Have not checked out the extended warranty coverage offered "On-Line" from Dodge recently, but mine was offered in payments and they were Interest Free. Wife is looking at a new 2010 Ford Taurus Limited and I see that their Factory Extended Warranty is also available "On-Line" with payment choices that are also Interest Free. I guess this might be a industry policy.

I have Lifetime power train + Wrap warranty. I questioned my dealer and they told me they recommend 30K/mi diff oil change. If you look at your MANUAL, it recommends checking your dif oil @ 18k, but there is nothing in there that recommends changing it at that low mileage.
