4 days ago, I traded my 06 Jeep Commander for an 11 Nitro. The Jeep started doing things like this about 2 years ago. I believe it has something to do with an intermittent short, which slightly drops the voltage, which can cause the electronics to go crazy. My dealer could never pinpoint the problem, and asked me to bring it in the next time it did it, but not to shut it off when I got there, so possibly they could pull a code. That chance will never come as now the Jeep is gone. Previously, the dealer could never pull a code. Some members on the jeep forum said it was a short in the headlight circuit, behind the battery. Others said it could be the wire to the outside temperature sensor. I wish I had a better answer for you.
