Thumbs down Rear ended yesterday

Looks like no matter what one does to look after their pride and joy you always get some wazzaq ruining it all. I got rear ended yesterday heading home from work. The GMC Sierra pick up was in line behind me, he decided to put his foot on the gas and whacked me in the ass end. Mashed up my bumper, the cheeky driver came out and brushed my bumper with his fingers saying that there is nothing wrong with it LOL!. Not even a sorry or anything. At this moment I decided to call the Police. He was also given a citation for careless driving.

Will post some pics later today. I checked the floorpan area and the tailgate all seems fine. Although I did notice the tip of my exhaust scrapped and slightly out of shape, also the exhaust hanger ( the one closer to the engine bay ) is slightly out of shape. Will post pics and perhaps someone can compare it to theirs?

Sorry to hear your bad luck! Yes I bet it is a 1K repair, even if it is just damage to the bumper. Happens all the time, everyday. I firmly support daylight running lights (more later) but maybe to protect from rear-enders we should just run with all lights on!! Just last week we (Wife & Dog) stopped when a light turned to yellow and the guy behind (I was watching him in the rear view mirror being a very defensive driver) had to hit his brakes very hard to stop and locked up his tires, and then hit his horn? WOW I would have ran the yellow and he was planning to run the red. Not sure but think he was also on his cell phone at the time. Wife gets mad everytime when she goes to work when someone pulls out in front of her big Ford Explorer modified with headlamps and parking lights on when driven. I keep telling her it doesn't matter that no one is behind her that I just expect everyone to do it. Sure I'm wrong sometimes but what is interesting is usually someone does the same to that idiot, if you follow them and then they get mad? Many do not want to wait or understand what a "Yield" sign means. Good Luck with your repairs.

Thanks. He was stationary in traffic behind me prior to piling into me.
I thought the tailgate was untouched however looking at it this afternoon I noticed a slight shallow ding in the tailgate, hopefully paintless dent will remove this ( I am sure it should!).

I hope that they paint the new bumper off the car, what do you think? I wouldnt want overspray under my car and spare wheel area. The difficulty has already started, Geico, his insurance company wont send out an assessor. I have to take it to them which will be difficult as I work office hours and they are not open weekends. Once the assesment is done I shall be taking it Chrysler main dealer to get done as I dont know anyone else since moving to the USA that I can trust. However, I shall inform them of how fussy I am before they start the work ( thats if they do take it on LOL ).
I roughly added up the parts price. Rear bumper, bumper shock absorber, bumper plastic top cover these parts alone go over 700$.Then theres the paint and the exhaust tip that is damaged.

Sorry for your misfortune, but glad to hear it was only your Nitro that was injured. Best of luck with the repairs.

I just became the owner of a 07 Nitro on Saturday due to an accident on 11-28. Stopped in traffic and was rear ended by a young girl driving a Jetta. Must have been texting, because there was no indication she tried to stop. Hit my 05 Equinox and it was totaled. Everyone likes to get a new car, but not this way. Still hurting a week and a half later. I guess it could have been worse but my towbar took the brunt of the hit.

Good Luck with your new Nitro. Harder to total a Nitro, it is really a truck that weights 4K pounds. Welcome and enjoy!

Thanks! Glad I found this site. My Equinox was over $13,000 book, kinda tells how hard she hit it.
