Question Run R/T on E85?

Hi

I have bought a Nitro 4.0 R/T here in Sweden.
In a land of Volvos and small cars this is an amazing car.

Is it possible to run the car om pure e85?
I tried to search the web for any information but i cant find any.
Someone must have tried?

No way here in the US. Owner's Manual should answer that question, however.

The manual is written in the US.
Many cars can run on E85 even if the manual does not say so.
If it works you will get more power, lower emission and in my case lower cost.
1 US gallon costs $ 8.27 USD in Sweden.

Maybe i have to try myself then..

Holpers, I would do some research before using E-85 in a non-flexfuel engine. I don't pretend to know the answer, but it is my view that you loose engine power, lower gas mileage and increase maintenance costs by increasing oil changes. The trade-off is lower fuel costs that may not be worth it, at least here in the U.S.

Below are just some Links I found that explains E-85 fuel and even an E-85 conversion kit.

Good Luck and please let us know how it works out for you.

The problem that you will have is That you will need Corrosive Resisitant Stainless Steel Gas line, Computer Programming (If Possible), and a different fuel filter. With E85 you will get less power, lower fuel cost and higher maintence to get what you get in savings from the E85 over regular fuel I would not suggest changing. Propane or natural gas in the US is possible.

There are many internal parts in your fuel system that are affected by alcohol. Over time, plastic/fiberglass parts exposed to alcohol will begin to break down/corrode and gum up your entire fuel system. I would highly recommend that you stay away from E85. You should be OK with E10/E15.
