TV System now avaiable on Nitro
Distraction for rear-seat passengers has been expanded by Chrysler Group LLC. The company, the first to put real-time television into a vehicle, with programming aimed at children, has added stations for adults including the four major networks, Food Network, and ESPN.
The system, which uses the DVD screens that drop from the ceilings of the vehicles, is a $628 option that includes the first year's subscription to broadcasting. The TV programming also is viewable from the front seat on the navigation-system screen, but only when the car is in park, a Chrysler spokesman said.
The TV system is to be available this week on the Toledo-built Dodge Nitro sport utility vehicle and is due in early spring in the Toledo-built Jeep Liberty SUV, Chrysler spokesman Nick Cappa said. It is currently on the company's minivans and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander and Dodge Journey SUVs, he said.
