What would you change about the Nitro?

First, I love my Nitro, only a couple of things I would change for the 2009 model if they would only listen !

1. Diesel. Yes, make the 2009 model in a Diesel. I'd trade my 2007 in tomorrow if they did. Fuel efficient.

2. In our Canadian winters I would like to keep my Nitro running and be able to lock with my hubby's fob while we run our daughter into her dayhome. I dislike having to re-start all the time, for the 3 minutes it would be kept running, it would be nice and warm.

3. Running lights are always on, how about headlights always on, never have to remember to turn them off..... I know there's a dummy "your lights are on", having them on all the time would be more efficient for me. Of course with the option to turn them on manually

4. The heating unit on the dash, make it longer - to fit across the front of the dash, in our Canadian winters that little section just isn't enough to keep the windshield defrosted...... darn winters anyway.

Anyone else have any ideas to add to the list?

i bougt my diesel in 2007 so they alreade make them i have no idea why they dont sell it in US.

someone said something about that they have higher emisions demands
and that is bullshit in europe we have much higer emisions demands.
and we have the diesel (wich by the way is excelent)

so ask chrysler why they dont sell them in your country.

Good points, Gailie and Isaakssonmartin.

The headlights always is a good idea, except there are times you NEED to turn off the headlights, such as when boarding a ferry (they don't like being blinded at night) and when pulling into parking at an apartment.

What I really want to see is an automatic tranny that does not rob you of needed power and rpms.

That's all I can think of for now.

On my 2007 nitro I dont like a few minor things.

On the basic cd/mp3 radio. Move the auxillary button and the Set button away or make them different then your select channel button. WHen IM driving, I don't always have the ability to look down when im pushing button 1or 6 and I often hit Set or Auxillary. (this might be a dodge radio issue)

If I hit a small chuck/pot hole or a man hole that dips down. My Nitro 'chirps'.
Kinda like a tenny shoe on a basketball court. What is up with that?

My front speakers seem to vibrate the door panels occasionally. Not sure how to fix that.

Id like the key i got with it for keyless entry to have some kind of way to be able to tell the lock and unlock apart without looking at the key. Raise them up or something.

Finally, I would have to agree. Seems the transmission shifts a little funny. Not as much take off on the car as I would expect unless I floor it.

Thats it for me, some of these may be dodge related and not just Nitro related.

Actually it does ... at least on my 2008 keys ... the "lock" button has tiny pips on it ... but you have to be blind to feel them! I still have to look at mine!

I checked my key just now. It does have 4 dots on in it. 3 of them are already worn down to smooth. The other I can barely feel if Im trying to feel for it.

I think it would be better if they DEPRESSED the two buttons (or at least one of them) ... most of us cannot feel the tiny raised pips on the key fob. Buttons that were depressed slightly below the surface of the key fob would be much easier to locate (and less likely to be accidentally pressed by being depressed instead of raised).

Oh ... another thing.

My 98 Jeep would chirp TWICE when I armed the alarm system. The second chirp would only occur if the vehicle was ready to be armed. If a light was left on, or a door ajar, the second chirp would not go off. Great aural (and visual) cue that all was well. When disarming, you'd get a single chirp.

This would be a useful thing to continue doing, rather than the single chirp (or honk or flash) when arming, and two for disarming.

Smile changes for 09

All of you have good points! How about the vents across the dash. Have you tried to get a vent to point straight at you? I can not aim a single vent at me and it hit me in the drivers seat. I don't know about you guys, but this Texas girl likes to feel the air blowing in her face!

Just a minor request, but my only complaint about my Nitro after three weeks of driving it.
