$32,000 Volt?

Survey says: $32,000 Volt possible

Posted Wednesday, Sep 16, 2009, 1:38 pm in Employee News

GM hasn’t officially announced the price of its Volt, but a new consumer survey for the automaker and a Detroit Free Press story says the car will “effectively cost between $32,000-$38,000 after a tax credit of $7,500,” depending on the content.

The online survey was sent to interested consumers over the weekend, a GM spokesman said and the Free Press reported.

The spokesman cautioned that the prices mentioned are not official and that “it’s just a survey” to gauge awareness and price sensitivity, the story said.

GM has said the first generation of Volt cars would be expensive, but that the price would likely drop over time. Most experts had estimated the Volt price at about $40,000. (Detroit Free Press)
