During this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, car lovers can expect a new attraction to showcase the industry’s electric cars, Detroit Free Press reported.
At the 2010 Detroit auto show, organizers will unveil a 37,000-square-foot feature, called Electric Avenue, on Cobo Center’s main floor to show off nearly 20 electric vehicles, the paper said. “Electric Avenue is going to be a unique feature of the 2010 NAIAS that will enable us to educate a diverse audience about the long-term viability of the auto industry using a subject that is top of mind globally these days,” NAIAS Chairman Doug Fox told the Free Press.
Sponsored by Dow Chemical Co., the electric vehicle feature also will show technologies that reduce energy consumption, such as lightweight materials, the paper said. The auto show at Cobo Center in Detroit opens to the press on Jan. 11 and to the public Jan. 16, the story said. (Detroit Free Press)
