ex-Chrysler in trouble with IRS
Business Insider: Pressed for cash, ex-Chrysler exec reduces home price
November 12. 2009
Looks like former Chrysler Group LLC executive Jim Press, whose financial troubles were chronicled in The Detroit News, is having a tough time liquidating his 6,800-square-foot, six-bedroom New England-style mansion in Birmingham.
Press, who is being pursued by IRS agents and sued by a California credit union for more than $1.4 million in delinquent taxes and a loan, took out a $2.2 million mortgage in May 2008 and listed it for sale in September for $3.15 million. But a recent visit to SKBK Sotheby's International Realty of Birmingham's Web site shows he's knocked $200,000 off the asking price.
