Ford: boost production of Escape
Ford looking at plan to make more Escape vehicles

Ford Motor Co. wants to boost production of the Ford Escape crossover, which is in short supply after the cash-for-clunkers sales surge, the Automotive News reported.
Under the plan, not yet final, Ford says it would reassign some workers making the F-150 pickup in Kansas City, Mo., the trade publication said. The workers would assemble the Escape and its Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute companions, which are also made in Kansas City, the paper said.
It’s unclear how much the change would increase Escape production, the reported said. To compensate for reduced pickup production in Kansas City, Ford would increase production of F-150s in Dearborn, Mich. Workers in Dearborn would get steady full-time hours, eliminating rotating layoffs, the story said. (Automotive News)
