U.S. carmaker, Ford Motor Co., has decided to launch a new car every 12 to 18 months in India as part of its strategy to spruce up marketshare in that country, the Economic Times reported.
Talking to newsmen at the inauguration of a new Ford dealership, Michael Boneham, president and MD of Ford India, said: “We now have a marketshare of nearly 2 percent and we want to grow it significantly in coming years. Launching of new cars from the Ford stable, will play a crucial role in growing our market share in India.”
However Boneham refused to divulge what sort of marketshare the company aims to achieve in the long run, the paper said. Ford India is investing $500 million in expanding production at its Chennai plant, the story said. (Economic Times)
