Ford Motor Co. said Saturday that it has resolved all workload issues with UAW Local 249, which represents more than 3,500 workers at the company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, but the union still plans to complete a strike authorization vote, the Detroit Free Press said.
“We had a team of Ford executives and National Ford Department UAW representatives meeting Thursday and Friday and we got word last night that the issues and concerns that the local union had have been resolved,” Ford spokeswoman Marcey Evans told the paper Saturday. Workers at that plant in Claycomo, Mo. Began voting Thursday to authorize a strike over the disagreements and were scheduled to conclude late Saturday, the Free Press said.
Toni McCauley, financial secretary for UAW Local 249, said the union planned to continue holding the strike authorization vote because the members originally asked for it and because it is nearly complete, the paper said. Ford makes the F-150 pickup and the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner SUVs at the assembly plant, the story said. (Detroit Free Press)
