With demand overtaking low supplies, Ford Motor Co. will ramp up production of its full-sized SUVs, Ford Americas President Mark Fields said Monday at the Detroit auto show, the Automotive News reported.
Sales of the Ford Expedition rose 45 percent in December, while sales of its Lincoln Navigator sibling jumped 60 percent, the trade paper noted. A year ago, Ford halted SUV production to move assembly equipment to a different plant, the Automotive News said.
Last month, Expedition inventory dropped to a 31-day supply and Navigator inventory to a 24-day supply, the paper said. A 60-day supply is considered normal, the paper reported. Details on the production increase were not available, the story said. (Automotive News)
