GM launches ‘Tell Fritz’ suggestion box

In what some are calling “a page from Mr. Iacocca’s playbook,” GM’s Chief Executive Fritz Henderson has launched an online suggestion box called Tell Fritz.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the initiative is loosely modeled after Twitter messaging and will allow the public to send comments and complaints to Henderson via messages containing 255 characters or less.
The initiative is seen as an attempt to distance Henderson from the “Old GM,” and is part of a wider assault the auto maker is waging to repair its tattered image, the story said.
The Journal claims “Tell Fritz” harkens back to a strategy that Lee Iacocca followed during the early 1980s of speaking directly to the American people in advertisements, interviews and a best-selling book. In a May interview, Mr. Henderson said “the lessons of Lee Iacocca’s leadership are very valuable today.” (The Wall Street Journal)
