General Motors Co. will announce a list of initial retail markets for the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car at next month’s Los Angeles International Auto Show, The Detroit News reported.
GM also said it will display a U.S. production version of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan at the auto show, which is open to the media Dec. 2-3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the paper said. The show is open to the public Dec. 4-13.
The Cruze, which launched in Europe and Asia earlier this year, will get as much as 40 miles per gallon when it debuts in North America next year, the News said. Last month, GM said it was delaying the launch about three months until the third quarter of 2010 to ensure a flawless launch, the article said.
The Volt, meanwhile, is scheduled to go on sale late next year and will let commuters travel as many as 40 miles on electric power, the paper said. The Volt will be followed a few years later by a version of the Cadillac Converj, a concept coupe that was recently approved for production by GM’s board of directors, the story said.
